Privacy Policy

Last updated September 18, 2026.

Ming is a small, minimalist app, and we've tried to keep what it collects just as small. This page describes exactly what that is. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone.

Who this covers

This policy applies to the Ming mobile app (iOS and Android) and to this website. It's operated by the maker of Ming. If you have questions, email support@ming-app.org.

What we collect

Creating an account is optional to try Ming, but required to keep your progress across sessions and devices. When you sign in — with Apple, Google, or an emailed one-time code — we store:

  • Your email address, used to identify your account and, if you sign in with a one-time code, to send that code.
  • Your learning data: which words you've seen, your strength/streak progress for each one, your daily streak, your reminder time, and a log of your answers (right or wrong, and when) so the app can schedule reviews correctly and show your progress over time.
  • A device push-notification token, only if you enable daily reminders, so we can deliver that reminder to your device.

We do not collect your name, location, contacts, photos, or anything from other apps. We don't run analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, so we don't collect device fingerprints, ad identifiers, or behavioral tracking data.

How we use it

Only to run the app: to sync your progress between devices, to schedule which words you review and when, to keep your streak accurate, and to send the daily reminder you asked for. We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't build profiles to sell or share.

Who we share it with

We use Supabase as our backend and database provider, and Apple / Google as sign-in providers when you choose those options — each only sees what's needed to do that job (Supabase stores your data on our behalf; Apple/Google authenticate you and share your email, per your account and their own privacy policies). We don't sell data, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile, word progress, and review history are permanently deleted — see below.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • See what we have — email us and we'll send you a copy of your stored data.
  • Delete your account and data — email support@ming-app.org with "Delete my account" and we'll permanently delete your account, word progress, and review history within 30 days. This can't be undone.

Full instructions are on the Support page.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Our database uses row-level security, meaning the backend itself enforces that your data can only ever be read or written by your own signed-in account — not just by app-level logic, but at the database layer.

Children

Ming isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you in the app.
