A daily Chinese vocabulary app

Five minutes of Chinese. Every day.

New words each morning, reviewed right before you'd forget them. Nothing to manage, nothing to fake.

Why it works

Built around what actually sticks.

Never relearn what you know

Day one skips straight to what's actually new to you.

Recall, not recognition

Every card asks you to produce the word — not just spot it.

Remembers so you don't have to

Words resurface right before you'd forget them, automatically.

Under the hood

Small app. Considered defaults.

Real spaced repetition

Words resurface right before you'd forget them — not on a fixed deck order.

Streak with one freeze

Life happens. Miss a day and one freeze a month keeps your streak alive — after that, it resets honestly.

Six exercise types

So it never turns into rote multiple-choice.

Real sentences, not just flashcards

Every word ships with a real example sentence, so you learn how it's actually used — not just what it means.

Dark mode, automatically

Ming follows your system appearance. No setting to hunt for, no flash of the wrong theme.

Sign in, don't sign up

Continue with Apple or Google. Your progress travels with your account, not a device.

Inside the app

Every screen, one language.

Flat surfaces, hard edges, one accent colour used with intent. Nothing to skin, nothing to learn twice.

Questions

Before you start

Do I need to know pinyin already?

No. Ming introduces pinyin alongside every new character, and one of the six exercise types is built specifically around typing it correctly. You'll pick it up as you go.

What if I already know some words?

The placement quiz asks upfront. Whatever you already recognise gets skipped — your first lesson only covers what's actually new to you.

How much time does it really take?

Five minutes covers twelve cards a day. Ten and fifteen-minute tiers exist if you want to move faster — you can change your pace at any time.

What happens if I miss a day?

Nothing dramatic. You get one streak freeze a month for exactly this. Miss more than that and your streak resets — Ming won't pretend otherwise.

What platforms does Ming run on?

iOS and Android, with the same experience either way. Sign in with the same account and your progress follows you.

Is my progress backed up anywhere?

Yes. Sign in with Apple or Google and your word history, streak and settings sync to your account, not just your device.
